Elemenatary Teacher with Students

Q:  I have never taught.  Do you think I could do this?
A:  You will be working only with one child at a time.  If you have been a parent or a grandparent, then you can do this.

Q:  I travel frequently so what happens if I am away?
A:  Let your teacher know in advance.  That is perfectly all right to be gone.  Perhaps you can double up on the week before you leave, or when you return.  However many weeks you are able to help is certainly better than not helping at all.

Q:  What if I really don't get along with the child that is assigned to me?
A:  Just let your teacher know.  There are many students in each classroom that need help and you will be assigned another one.

Q:  How long am I expected to tutor?
A:  We prefer a tutor to be available from October through May, but will accept a shorter time frame.  Many of our tutors have done this for years but, initially, we ask for a commitment of only one school year.  If you enjoy the work, we hope you will continue.
