Stanford Commencement Speaker Cory Booker On Mentoring
Community Volunteer Tutors & Mentors
PNG is a community-based/supported non-profit organization that provides tutors at all grade levels and mentors to high schools in the Los Altos Mountain View Union School District (CA) area.
It is donation funded; employs 3 part time mentor coordinators, and has approximately 150 volunteers.
PNG originally was conceived and funded by the Los Altos Rotary Club. Since its inception, PNG has grown to include other service organizations, such as Mountain View Rotary, the Los Altos Community Foundation, and many individuals that do the actual work of PNG.
NASA Field Trip
Approximately 25 mentors and mentees went to NASA on Wednesday, March 14, 2012. The Alta Vista group was invited to be the guests of Roland Payne, a long-time mentor at Alta Vista High School. Before the tour, the students and mentors had a sandwich in the multi-purpose room, and then caravanned to the gate at NASA where those of us over 18 received passes.
